Zarzis, Tunisia – A large number of youths stormed the police station of Zarzis on Saturday to free their friend who had just been arrested by a security patrol, the TAP correspondent in Medenine reports.

Carrying cudgels, the youths attacked police officers who were finishing off the arrest procedures, demanding to free the person suspected of damage to other’s property.

The police officers released him to avoid any destruction.

Sit-inners block activities of Lower Court in Kebili

Kebili, Tunisia – Relatives of the inmates who had been involved in the events in Kebili in September 2011 have been blocking the activities of the Lower Court in the area for three days, a correspondent noted Saturday to TAP.

The families demand that the review of the case be transferred to civil justice and insist that the “offense” in question should not be tried by a military court.

The case was transferred to the military court last Thursday. Two detainees were released and acquitted but eleven other defendants must appear before the military court.

The sit-inners have said they will not attack the headquarters of the Lower Court or the agents who work there, indicating that they want to appeal the judgement.

The prosecutor of the Republic of Kebili told the TAP correspondent that the prosecutors and lawyers for detainees have appealed the ruling and requested the transfer of the case to a civil court. This request will be heard Monday by the Gabes Court of Appeals.

Sidi Bouzid: General strike in Mazouna

Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia – A general strike is staged, on Saturday, in the Department of Mazouna (governorate of Sidi Bouzid), registering the suspension of classes, closing of trades and blocking of all roads leading to the city.

According to several citizens, this general strike is held in protest against the budget allocated to development for the region of Sidi Bouzid, which does not meet their expectations.

The citizens in Mazouna demand the rehabilitation of their Department, by devoting a budget to development and the re-opening of companies for manufacture of plastics, which have been closed for years and figure among the most important enterprises of the region.

They also require that better use be made of the natural resources of the region, promotion of the agricultural sector, and provision of water and electricity to some areas of the Department.

Zarziz : Prise d’assult du poste de police et libération d’une personne interpellée

Zarzis, Tunisie – Un grand nombre de jeunes ont pris d’assaut, samedi, le poste de la sûreté nationale de Zarzis pou libérer leur ami qui vient d’être arrêté par une patrouille sécuritaire, apprend la correspondante de la TAP a Médenine.

Munis de triques, le groupe de jeunes a attaqué les agents de la sureté qui étaient en train de finaliser les procédures de l’arrestation, recommandant la libération du suspect poursuivi pour atteinte aux biens d’autrui.

Les agents de la police ont relâché la personne arrêtée pour eviter tout acte de destruction.

Des sit-inneurs bloquent les activités du Tribunal de première instance de Kébili

Kébili, Tunisie – Les proches des détenus impliqués dans les événements de Kébili en septembre 2011, bloquent depuis trois jours les activités du Tribunal de première instance dans la région, a constaté samedi le correspondant de TAP.

Les familles revendiquent le réexamen de l’affaire et son transfert devant la justice civile, considérant que les  “délits” d’inculpation ne doivent pas etre jugés par la justice militaire.

L’affaire avait été transferée jeudi dernier au tribunal militaire. Deux détenus ont été relachés et acquittés tandis que onze autres prévenus doivent comparaitre devant le tribunal militaire.

Les sit-inneurs ont affirmé qu’ils ne s’attaqueront pas au siège du tribunal de première instance ni aux agents qui y travaillent, indiquant qu’ils ont fait appel du jugement.

Le procureur de la Republique de Kébili a indiqué au correspondant de TAP que le ministère public et les avocats des détenus ont interjeté appel du jugement et demande le transfert de l’affaire devant un tribunal civil. Cette demande sera examiné lundi prochain par la cour d’appel de Gabes.

Sidi Bouzid, Tunisie – Une grève générale a été organisé samedi, dans la commune de Mazouna (gouvernorat de Sidi Bouzid), y compris l’enregistrement de la suspension des cours, fermeture des travaux, et le blocage de toutes les routes menant en ville.

Selon plusieurs citoyens, cette grève générale se tient comme une protestation contre le budget alloué au développement dans la région de Sidi Bouzid, qui ne satisfait pas leurs attentes.

Les citoyens de Mazouna réclament la réhabilitation de leur commune, en y consacrant un budget pour le développement et pour la réouverture des entreprises de fabrication de plastiques fermées pendant des années, qui figurent parmi les entreprises les plus importantes de la région.

Ils exigent également un meilleur profit des ressources naturelles de la région, une meilleure promotion du secteur agricole, et l’approvisionnement de l’eau et l’électricité à certains endroits de la commune.
