I was delighted to discover, from Brazilian collaborator Murilo Otávio Rodrigues Paes Leme, that Jean Giono’s marvelous story of The Man Who Planted Trees” has been made into a 30-minute Oscar-winning animation, narrated by Christopher Plummer. “This delicate film is directed by Frédéric Back. The story describes the shepherd Elzéard Bouffier who, in complete harmony with nature, makes a forest grow in a place that was once arid. The seeds he plants represent the hope that we can leave behind us a better world than the one we inherited.”
